It is darkest before the dawn. Christianity is supernatural.

Joseph Meaney, Human Life International

Presentation Czestochowa, October 27, 2018

In September 2018 at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe committee on anti-discrimination I saw two members of parliament fighting. Mrs. Esterlla from Portugal wanted more “inclusive language” and Mrs. Steinem from the Netherlands objected that the Transgender people do not feel included. The liberals are now fighting themselves.

It reminded me of the scene from the film, The Passion of the Christ, where the Devil does not comprehend what is going on with the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus. He is triumphant until he realizes that Christ has defeated death.

A good exercise is to look at the current situation from the perspective of the other side. The documentary, Reversing Roe, showed that seven US states have only one abortion center left. New State laws on abortion are overwhelmingly pro-life. Some places have abortionists who are 80 years old and cannot find anyone to take their place killing preborn babies.

Justice Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed by the US Senate onto the US Supreme Court. He is the 5th pro-life justice on the 9 person court. Abortion’s legality could now be reversed by the Supreme Court just as it was imposed by that court.

In August the Senate of Argentina rejected a bill to legalize abortion. The bill had passed the chamber of deputies and most observers thought it would be adopted. Millions of Argentineans mobilized and it was decisively defeated.

President John Magufuli of Tanzania said no to Birth Control billboards and advertisements. He stated that his country is not overpopulated and there should be no population control there.

Kenya has also started cracking down on the illegal abortions performed by Marie Stopes International.

Romania had a positive referendum to give a good definition of marriage and the family. 20.4% of voters participated out of the 30% needed to make it binding, but 91% of those who voted were in favor. Also, the question was phrased in such a way as to make people suspicious of voting in favor.

Norway’s Supreme Court ruled October 11th that a doctor who refused to insert an Intra Uterine Device (IUD) and lost her job in a government clinic had her conscience rights violated. The Scandinavian countries have been the worst in Europe about denying the rights of conscience of health care workers, so this is an outstanding legal precedent.

In 2014 the last abortion center closed in Corpus Christi, Texas. This was the fruit of almost 40 years of pro-life work. Now there is an area of almost a million people with no abortion clinics. We must persevere.

HLI is proposing the Saint Michael the Archangel prayer after mass for the intention of the conversion of the culture of death. Millions of prayer cards have been printed and distributed and more and more churches around the world are doing this.

Pope Benedict XVI called for Prayer Vigils for Life in every diocese of the world on the Saturday night preceding the first Sunday of Advent in 2010. Since then groups have continued this initiative and HLI is joining this movement to start the period of Advent where we await the birth of the Christ Child by also praying for all the preborn children at risk of being aborted.
